Hi X,
It was great seeing you today! I’m glad we were able to view a few properties and appreciate all the feedback. I would suggest, think about the properties we saw today and see if there is anything you would like to add/remove from your criteria list. In the meantime, I will run a search to see if anything else came on the market that fits your criteria.

How do you say thank you to a realtor?
Yes, the realtor certainly made money from the interaction. Yes, there was an exchange of goods. Yes, it was their job. But also, there’s nothing wrong with thanking your realtor for helping you find and buy the home of your dreams. Gratitude is always a good thing. Here’s an example of what you can say in your thank you note to your realtor:
Dear John,
On behalf of myself and Mitsy, we want to thank you for your tireless efforts this last year in helping us find the perfect home to start our new family. You totally understood our high standards and never tried to bring them down. We really appreciate that. Thank you for being so personable and helpful throughout the whole process, we won’t forget it!
All the best,
Two very happy homeowners
General strategic tips from Real Estate professionals to help you write the most effective thank you notes.
You’ve got your sample templates ready to rumble. You’re all full of ideas for what to say in your own real estate thank you note, but we’re not done yet. As thank you note savants here at Postable, we’re always on the lookout for ways to make the message inside the card stand out from the rest. So we wanted to know if there were any secrets of the trade that even we didn’t know about.
The following are small, but mighty strategic tips to help you write the worlds’ greatest Real Estate thank you note and help your business boom.
Add personal tidbits you learned about your client during the course of your work with them.
William Kim –– a licensed Associate Broker with Corcoran in Brooklyn, NY–– suggests adding something totally unrelated to the business at hand. For example, mentioning a hobby that the two of you bonded over or something your client mentioned in passing (this will show them you were really paying attention).
“I hope to see you on a running trail.”
Turn obstacles into something positive.
William Kim also suggests taking what may have been a hardship during the whole process and spinning it to something beneficial. After all, you want to leave your clients feeling good about the whole ordeal so if there were problems, make sure to address them.
“This deal came with obstacles, but I’m glad it did because we learned and grew from it.”
Send the thank you note 24-48 hours after the deal is finalized.
Scott Rubzin, founder of Tiffany Property Investments LLC, says timing is important. Don’t wait! “It just shows the client that you were invested in getting a dream home for them. They might even refer you to other people.”
Keep notes about your clients to refer back to for thoughtful details.
It’s difficult to remember all the small details about every one of your clients especially if there are quite a few. In order to make your thank you notes personal, it’s important to include such details. So Jason Simard, Realtor & Owner of Sims Real Estate Group, suggests maintaining “record notes of your clients where you can store all you know or observe about your client.”
Provide additional information helpful to a homeowner.
You’ve helped them buy their new home, but don’t let that be the end of your usefulness. Patrick O’Sullivan, CCIM, suggests providing information on home related services. If you have a partnership with a construction firm or electrician or plumbers, add this information to your card. This way they’ll continue to keep you in mind and keep the relationship going.
Avoid a sales push.
“It’s tempting to add a final push to your thank-you, such as a request for a reference or a follow on your real estate Instagram account. However, doing so will negate all of the positive energy you generated with your handwritten, personalized, and considerate note. Resist the urge to give in. Our thank-you card templates for real estate agents specify that the receiver can contact you at any moment. That is all there is to it. Trust that your card is working hard to keep you in front of people’s minds.” –– Gerrid Smith, CEO & Founder of Property Tax Loan Pros
Use a photo of a local favorite spot or artwork from a local artist.
Lauren Clark ––Texas Realtor from Dripping Springs –– says she likes using an image created by a local artist of “an iconic Texas swimming hole that is just 20 minutes down the road.”
Other occasions when you want to stay in touch:
Sending a thank you note to your real estate clients at the end of your business together, while crucial, should not be the end of the conversation. These clients, assuming you did a good job, are a great source of future referrals and even potential sources of future business. People move. Maybe they’ll need to sell the new house they just bought using your services or perhaps their close friends do. If you wish to use this to your advantage, you’ll need to keep in touch.
Now, following your clients on Instagram is an option (if your relationship makes that appropriate), but you want to make certain your professional services are at the top of their minds. Instagram, however delightfully entertaining, is not going to cut it. You need to periodically touch base with your clients with a light professional message. Snail mail, however old school, is the best way to do just that. There’s a reason why you couldn’t just send your clients a quick thank you note via Instagram messenger.
There are a few key occasions you can use to your advantage throughout the year to touch base with your previous clients without being pushy or salesy. And that last point is key. When you send snail mail, unless you’re actually trying to sell something – avoid salesy language.
“It’s tempting to add a final push to your thank-you, such as a request for a reference or a follow on your real estate Instagram account. However, doing so will negate all of the positive energy you generated with your handwritten, personalized, and considerate note. Resist the urge to give in. Trust that your card is working hard to keep you in front of people’s minds.” –– Gerrid Smith, CEO & Founder of Property Tax Loan Pros
So, what other times can you send your clients a card?
Happy House-a-versary
These anniversary cards act as tiny reminders of the service you provided your clients. It’ll help place you back into their thoughts associated with something positive.
Client Birthday
Another occasion to send your previous real estate clients a card is on their birthday. While most other businesses will be emailing your clients some sort of sale, you’ll find yourself in a small pool of those sending personal and thoughtful birthday cards.
Easy does it: send a short and sweet birthday message to remind them of your personal touch. And while the message should be succinct and professional, don’t let that discourage you from choosing a birthday card design that’s a little less box-y and a little more unique. The more personal the card feels, the better. Definitely stick to your branding, but don’t feel like you have to send a birthday card with a logo on it.
Pro tip: You can schedule all of your birthday cards to all your clients for the entire year in one sitting. The cards will then get mailed for you automatically. Learn more about automated birthday cards.
Holiday Cards
Last, but certainly not least you can touch base with your clients during the holidays. You’ve got three options: Thanksgiving cards, Holiday cards, or New Years cards. Each type of card has its own purposes.
If you choose Thanksgiving, your card will likely be the only one in the bunch, making it stand out and easy to remember. On the other hand, if you send Holiday cards you’ll be benefitting from the jolly feels of the season. And finally, New Years cards are a lovely way to look to the future. These are a great option if the season got away from you and you couldn’t send the other cards in time.
